Born and raised on the playgrounds – or canyons – of Santa Barbara, California, Marisa started rocking out her leather skills at a young age when she was gifted a deer hide that had been tanned years prior by her grandmother. She began her creative journey by stringing together old Navajo, Zuni and Mexican jewelry scraps that her parents had been collecting over the years.
After finishing school, Marisa packed up and moved to the beach in Mexico. She spent a year surfing, working and playing music while she further continued her exploration of her art and jewelry. All of her pieces during this time were made with found materials from local markets. Marisa, we aren’t mad at you – we know we will get the invite next time.
Fast forward to the present, Marisa is now based in Oakland, California, where she continues to make magic by creating handmade pieces that have a relaxed, beachy aesthetic mixed with a modern rock n roll vibe that we love so much. Designed to be worn in a multitude of ways (see: whatever goes), the pieces allow you the freedom to style and layer to your heart’s content.
